Travel Log 30, Plgrmg. XCIX.II, Abs. Dei (2022)
Inspired by years of playing tabletop role-playing games and a childhood fascination with Dragonology by Dugald Steer, I have fallen into the rabbit hole that is worldbuilding. Creating a fictional world with its own lore, history, and culture is an art in and of itself. Worldbuilding is a crucial part of any fictional storytelling, regardless of medium, and with this project, I made the worldbuilding itself the focus instead of any specific characters or plot.
Through a series of digital collages, I have exemplified a few elements of my worldbuilding as though they would appear within a journal existing within the world. These pages are meant to feel as natural as possible, sacrificing clean-cut explanations in favor of a realistic view of how a society is lived in. Beside each of these journal pages is a peek behind the curtain, providing an outsider's explanation of each concept.
